I can still remember when I went on a blind date that a
friend had set up for me about four years ago. I was supposed to meet
my date at a nice local restaurant and spotted him as soon as I
arrived.
However, I stumbled while I walked very nervously up the
sloped sidewalk. I was able to catch myself and recover, but my
adorable tiny purse wasn't so lucky. It fell to the ground and
scattered all its contents all over the sidewalk. I was lucky because
my date turned out to be a gentleman and he came down to help me.
Fortunately, I didn't have anything embarrassing in my purse. Well, I did have five tubes of lip gloss. My date was smiling as he handed me all five of them. I explained that I have a passion for them. He didn't made any comment as he escorted me into the restaurant.
Let me tell you that all I wanted to do was go home after that embarrassing episode on the sidewalk. Two years later, my date was wearing my shiny lip gloss after our first kiss as a married couple on our wedding day. I laughed and wiped it off of him with a smile.
My husband is fond of telling everyone that he fell for me the moment he saw all those tubes of lip gloss scattered all over the sidewalk. He explained that those objects showed that I had a subtle feminine side in me, even if I had not been wearing a dress or skirt that day. I guess that my passion for lip gloss turned out to be a rather good passion after all.
You can look in my purse or my desk drawers and find at least one tube of lip gloss on any given day. I continue to stock up because I simply don’t want to run out. Some have glitter, some have light shades of various colors and some are simply medicated. I just can’t seem to live without it. In fact, I apply it on my lips more than ten times a day.
My husband has never commented on my lip gloss addiction. He tolerates it all even if I don't hesitate to try a new brand or color every day. I guess he can't really discourage it since he claims that it made him fall in love with me. Besides, his lips are healthier than they were before because of the kisses we've shared and the amount of lip gloss he's ended up wearing.
